1984.org documents the context and history of the 1984 Ghallughara — leading up to the attack on Sikhs in the Harimandar Sahib and Akal Takht Complex along with more than 100 gurduaras throughout the Panjab, the ensuing Sikh Genocide throughout India, and the onset of indiscriminate violence by the State.
This archive is part of an ongoing project to collect and digitize the documents, eyewitness accounts, historical photographs, and media that capture the period surrounding 1984. Where the threat of state violence has loomed large to erase or contort the narrative of state-sponsored violence, this archive will act as a dispassionate haven of information.
