Bhan Singh's List

In June of 1984, the Indian Army invaded Sri Harimandar Sahib and Akal Takht Sahib inside the Golden Temple complex.

State borders were sealed and a number of holy sites throughout Punjab were attacked.

Since 1984, the only list of innocents killed in the complex is that of the 706 people represented here. This 120-page list was created by Bhan Singh, General Secretary of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee during the 1980s.

He entrusted this list to Dr. Joyce Pettigrew, a scholar who has studied Sikhs and Punjab for over 40 years.

Bhan Singh was assassinated on July 25, 1988.
